Which states and people should be worried about Hurricane Earl?

Where would you need to live to be afraid of getting hit by the hurricane, or by having your surroundings destroyed?|||Hurricane Earl is currently a Category 4 hurricane, which means it is packing winds of 131-155 mi/hr. at the moment North Carolina is on hurricane watch but the NHC (national hurricane center) are saying that no direct land impact is expected BUT if it moves west then it will bring it into direct impact with the eastern seaboard, if this happens then the NHC says it will cause "catastrophic" damage to the east coast, Katrina was a category 3 storm when it hit New Orleans, Earl may hit at Category 4 so would be much worse then Katrina.





I have read numerous articles that if the worse happens and moves into line with the US for a direct impact then cape cod WILL be hit on Friday or Saturday, please do not panic at that statement, it is IF it moves west. Please be aware that if, for your own safety you feel the need to evacuate please do so calmly.





If it hits or comes close to the east coast then i would advise to keep away from the coast, i would highly recommend you to listen for announcements and, just as precaution move to higher ground if it is said that it will hit or come dangerously close, if you are told to evacuate then please do so, don't make the mistake some of the Katrina survivors did and stay, leave.

It will be close to many areas, so some higher wind gusts, rain, high surf, and rip currents should be the only problem. Most of the statistical and dynamic models keep it in the sea. Now, on the satellite this afternoon, Earl looked to me like it had taken a sharper right turn than the models showed. This will put it further east than the models indicated, which means it will be further away from the coast. What does Earl Grey tea taste like to you?

It's an acquired taste. The first few times you may find it a bit unusual, but it sort of grows on you.

When Earl was still even with norther florida, they had it a Hurricane 4 almost to New York. However, it down grade way before New York and was only a cat 1 and Tropical Storm by the time it got up there. Also the further from the eye you get, the lower the wind speed. It does not take that many miles to see the wind speed drop quit a bit. Of course every hurricane is different, but this is normal for almost all hurricanes. When Charley made land fall in florida in 2004 it was a cat 4, almost the highest category. Cape coral saw the 140 mile an hour winds, but it came to within 15 miles of the eye, some parts of the city where in the eye. Now Bonita Springs only 35 miles from the eye saw only winds of 65 miles an hour, a huge drop. 50 to 60 miles from the eye was only around 35 miles an hour, not that bad at all. That low of wind speed is not going to do much at all.





So even if a hurricane 1 or 2comes, you have to be near the eye to get the worst. If the eye comes no closer than 20 miles away, it usually is nothing to worry about. If it is a category 3 or 4 you need to be about 30 or 45 miles away from the eye. If a category 5, 60 or 70 miles from the eye would be ok.|||I think it is supposed to stay in the ocean (Atlantic)
