How does folic acid help prevent spina bifida during earl pregnancy?

I understand that folate is a nutrient found in food but how does it help with the development of the neural cord? I don't understand the connection.|||You can research this online,

Check out the Spina Bifida Association website.

www.spinabifida.com

I have a child with spina bifida and seriously, what really matters is that it is a proven fact that it prevents spinal defects and you should just take it and make sure it doesn't happen.

If they knew this when my daughter was born, maybe she would not go through the things she goes through.

The worst thing is misunderstanding people.

All women should take folic acid at puberty and all through child rearing ages, just to make sure there are no more spinal defects in children.
