What kind of a political man was Earl Warren during his California days?

The question was about some of his decisions as Attorney General of California. Read the text. Tell me more|||He seems to have been fair but he made one mistake - he approved Japanese internment during the war. This was the compulsory removal of people of Japanese descent to inland internment camps away from the war zone along the coast. Following the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbour in December 1941, Warren organized the state's civilian defense program, warning in January, 1942, that, "The Japanese situation as it exists in this state today may well be the Achilles heel of the entire civilian defense effort." Throughout his lifetime, Warren maintained that this was the right decision at the time.

However this does appear to have been of dubious constitutionality and was at odds with his liberalism as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
