How much really does a server make in tips per night in casual restaurants like Earl's?

I would appreciate if servers would be willing to share, as I am moving into another city to go to school and am trying to find best employment choices for paying rent and tuition. Thank you so much for your responses.|||It depends on the restaurant , you and luck.

How busy is the restaurant?

What hours are you working?

How many hours in total?

Are the favorite of some repeat customers?

Are you friendly, frequently seen and competent?

How upscale is the restaurant?

In many restaurants the servers pool their tips.|||Depends on how busy it gets the hours you want to work. Lets say your section usually gets 20 people per shift. Whats an average dinner price per person? Plus many many elders eat there and will tip 10% for absolutely fabulous service. I'm dead serious, i've had comment cards that adorned me but then they left 10%, and it's usually elders. so anyways take your average meal, times it by 20 or however many you would usually get, and take 10% of that. That will be what you make per shift on a normal basis. Try a better restaurant though, that wouldn't be best if you are looking for good cash.|||By server, you mean waiteress or waiter I assume. I am surprised you mention Earl's because Earl's traditionally hires older wait staff. I used to be a waiter, and you learn who your tipper are after only a month on the jobs. It depends on the services, so the cook can make or break you. Always go back and frequent your tables. Be kind to everyone even those who you cannot please.

May sure that the busboy is not lazy and that he does not steal your tips. Depending on what school you attend, it will be a great source of financial freedom. God bless!
